I decided for the purposes of this tutorial to wipe the OS on my iPad (which was 3.2.1) and start from fresh. I found 3.2.2 is the only version not yet Jailbreak friendly so if you need to avoid updating to 3.2.2 or need to downgrade from 3.2.2 to another OS click Here. Even if your not restoring or updating anything you should sync to iTunes and even create a back up if you’d like to retain any of that information.
So, go clean your hands, the screen, and remember to maintain that internet connection, [also stay away from sprinklers] let’s get started.
Open up Safari using your iPad, and navigate over to http://www.JailBreakMe.com Given that you’re on 3.2 or 3.2.1 you should be met with a positive prompt asking you for a slide slide to jailbreak to get tweaks and apps that Apple won’t allow in the app store.
After starting the Jailbreaking process you can choose to read the prompts or heat up some popcorn, either way this is going to take a minute or so to download and then install. The entire process is a nice change though from the usual flying code that you get to see as it’s being injected into the iPads guts.”Sit tight.” as you wirelessly jailbreak a device and microwave kernal or potato chip bags or whatever else you choose to stuff in there.. don’t get evil.
If all goes well you’ll arrive at “Cydia has been added to the home screen. Have Fun!” gently push okay and the iPad should begin to reboot. Take this time to meditate, you’re probably about to unleash a shitstorm of code that’s going to allow your iPad to do things you may not have even thought possible yet with todays technology.
Enjoy
